very moving and extremely funny. Terrific on London and Londoners, immediately recognisable, and a wonderful and touching account of the beginning and end of first love. The aftermath of an air-raid (with piano) misses absolutely nothing. The lack of rancour for the dire predicament he was put in by his parents, commented on elsewhere, is truly amazing. And there's a sequel. ( )
