This is an interesting period piece. I guess it ought to be categorized as historical romance; it takes place in Italy in 1860, as Garibaldi and Victor Emmanuel are attempting to unify the country and divest the Pope of his temporal authority.

If you define romance solely as sexual tension between two characters this may not be for you, but if it's defined more broadly as great events sweeping people in front of them inexorably, it's pretty good. Made me want to learn more about that period in Italian history, that's for sure.

It was as good now was before!
