An amazing book listing very insightful aspects of Software Engineering, both for managers and developers. The book is very dense in a good way and I had to read it slowly to give things time to soak in. I would recommend this book to anyone new to managing a team of software engineers or the technical lead on a project. ( )

Helpful read to motive myself at work; but I did not find anything really new or surprising. The book itself reads a little unpolished (I found quite a number of errors that could have been eliminated with better editing). ( )

Some opinions in here I disagree with...

Specifically, "Fact: COBOL is the best business language" and "Fallacy: Enough Eyes make all bugs shallow". ( )

Jewel of a book and a great source for quotes to use with your management. ( )

Robert Glass is one of the contrarians in the field of software engineering. The title of his regular column is "Loyal Opposition", and his opposition to the commonly held beliefs shows here. This book is a listing of "facts" about software engineering, backed up by studies, which are either unknown, forgotten, or ignored by developers, managers, and researchers. It's a quick, fun read.
