Kind of like being a fly on the wall with a woman you never met on her trip alone, following her around without any say in any matters. ( )This is one of Agatha Christie's non-mystery novels, published under the name of Mary Westmacott. The name "Mary Westmacott" sounds to me like that of a trite romance writer, but that is misleading. Well, Agatha Christie knew all about being misleading. Although this is not a mystery novel, the central character does follow clues through to conclusions. The conclusions are not about crimes, however. Rather, they are about her life, and about the real nature of her actions and of her relationships with her friends and family. I haven't looked inside this book in years, but I do remember a basic question that arises: how far are you obligated to go to protect somebody from himself? Definitely not a trite romance. no reviews | add a review
