A well-illustrated concept book that will have young readers hooked on alligators. The author did an excellent job answering any question a student may have about alligators. The book includes information on how alligators and crocodiles are different. It also gives a very good clarification of what a cold blooded animal is. ( )

This is everything you need to know about alligators, where they live, what they eat, etc. This is good to use in a unit about animals that live in Louisiana or even just an animal unit. ( )

Jim Arnosky writes and illustrates this detailed account of alligators. The nonfiction information is easy to digest and follow along with. I enjoyed the inserts on each page giving the reader more information. Additionally, Arnosky's illustrations enrich the information better than any photographs could. ( )

This is a great source of information about alligators for young readers. Arnosky includes all sorts of interesting and important alligator facts, and the pictures do more than just entertain. They make the information come alive in a crucial way. For example, he includes a drawing of a life-size alligator egg with an embryo in it, and a life-size drawing of a baby alligator. His pictures are scientific, interesting, accurate, and well done, and he uses many different angles and viewpoints to illuminate, as well. ( )
