The end of the Puffin Island series was very satisfying. The second half of the book is more closely focused on Sky and Alex's romance. They return to Puffin Island, to Alex's cottage there, and their feelings for each other grow stronger but they of course don't admit to them.

I liked that they had a physical relationship without immediately deciding they were in love with each other, or with each telling themselves that they were but hiding it from the other. You don't see that kind of development in romance that often. They both have to change individually before they can be a couple, or rather come to terms with their pasts (and in Skylar's case, her relationship with her parents), and the second half of the book is basically about that. Characters from the other books play supporting roles, but this is mostly about Alex and Sky.
