Slower than the first book. Will, Nick, Ajay, Brooke and Elise decide to continue their battle with creatures from the Never-was by staying at school for summer break. The boys' locker attendant, Nepsted seems to have the answers, if the group will bring him a key to release him, which is hidden deep in the underground tunnels beneath the lake. Using their now honed powers to break into the tunnels, they find a lost city where creatures from the Never-was once dwelt, with a laboratory where horrible experiments were performed. However, following a narrow escape, Will's friends are captured by the evil Hobbes, and Will is forced to make an unpalatable decision to save their lives.

This of course still leaves one in the dark, UNTIL THE VERY END OF THE BOOK. these kids are much braver than myself and I find that a little hard to take. However, it would make for a very boring book and short story at that if they were as brave as me. like all of three pages. Naw, this is pretty good addition I have also read the last one as well, man it gets weird. ( )

normally you don't include such a book in the series. it is good for book 1.5 but to call it Book 2 is a bit much. ( )

This book contains stuff about high-tech gadgets and demons. I was disappointed with the clarity, I was a bit confused throughout the story and I didn't remember everything from the first book. But I still enjoyed it. 3Q4P The cover art is okay and I'd recommend this to middle school and high school students. I chose to read this book because I read the first one in the series and it was a good enough story that I wanted to read the sequel. MaxC

Leaves you with a cliff hanger. Spoiler alert. Stop reading now.
Elise is strapped to a table and Will's dad is about to operate on her to destroy her voice, and Will is forced to listen to what Elliot wants because he finds out that Elliot is his grandfather! Elliot tells Will that if Will does what he wants, no harm will come to Elise, or any of his other friends. Da da da... ( )
