The author presented solid and sometimes complex information about living the Christian life. I believe this book is best suited for pastors or individuals who have a deeper understanding of spiritual things. I do not consider myself to be well versed in the Bible or in the principles of Christian life so many parts of the book was too complex for me to comprehend without further study and contemplation. It is not a simple book about learning more about the Christian life.

Initially I started reading this book via my Kindle which I found it difficult to read due to the complex nature of the material, but I also received the book in print format a few days later which helped with my understanding the content slightly better and I did finish the book.

I can not comment on the doctrinal beliefs of this author due to not fully understanding all beliefs presented in the book. I know that the author does present more from a Lutheran perspective which is different from my belief system which complicated all material presented for me. Perhaps the material would be better explained to the layperson such as myself if it was complimented with the teachings of a Pastor or Bible Study leader.

The book is divided into three sections: Cross Life of the Christian, Experience of Living in the Cross, and Faithful Life in the Cross.

If you already have an understanding of living the Christian life and want to grow deeper in your development then this may be the book for you to read. The author does have the experience and documentation to explain the Christian life. He is a Director of Concordia Institute of Christian Studies, an associate pastor and affiliate professor at Colorado Christian University.
