Book description
Marguerite de Valois (Queen Margot), queen consort of Navarre, was imprisoned by her brother King Henri III of France in the castle of Usson for 18 years. During this time, she wrote poems and her memoirs, consisting of a series of stories about her mother Catherine de Medici, her brothers King Charles IX and King Henri III, and her estranged husband Henri of Navarre (later King Henri IV). The memoirs caused a scandal when they were published in 1658, 43 years after her death.
