De 'Godverdomse dagen' van een Mozes op speed. De eerste 5 boeken uit de Bijbel in een Verhulst-kleedje, vol met heerlijke anachronismen en zwellend van archaïsche, jawel, oudtestamentische taal ('torntoffel', 'schaverdijn', anyone?). Devote Dimi blaast als een volleerd schriftgeleerde en met een benijdenswaardige zwier nieuw leven in verhalen zo oud dat we vergeten zijn waar ze nu weer over gingen. Ook een vrome Verhulst blijft een onversneden Verhulst: er mag dus al eens gelachen worden, hoewel sommige mopjes een profetenbaard dragen waar zelfs Mozes over zou kunnen struikelen. Knap hoe Verhulst van een wirwar aan personages en verhalen een tot op het voorspelbare einde (Israël!) boeiende roman heeft weten te maken. Hallejuja! ( )
