Very good courtroom drama scenes. Some of the best I've ever read. A good story that kept my interest throughout. The ending was a little hokey but not too bad. My first book by Martini but certainly not my last. ( )

Typical early contemporary Brown. The characters make or break her books. ( )

Book description
Lost in paradise, they began a fantasy affair. Caren Blakemore was running from a painful divorce and a high-pressure Washington job. Derek Allen was hiding out from the scandal-hungry press. Throughout Jamaican days and nights, they shared half-truths and careless passion....

Then it ended, and Caren learned the price. She had been drawn into Derek's secret life and international headlines. Heading for public disgrace, she was left with only one way out.
