Saw this with the family after buying the DVD in 2006.

It's a lovely, classic film which I first saw many years ago in the cinema. The lovable alien is a delight, and the ending is very moving.

Throughly enjoyable, highly recommended. ( )

Sublime performance by a bunch of kids. Due to vaguely scary scenes would advise 8+. ( )

One of my favorite films from my fleeting childhood of the early 1980s. I won't see the film until the early 1990s on VHS. ( )

Unbeatable story of a boy and his alien, funny, touching, nearly perfect. ( )

Saw this on the first-run with out kids; one of them cried through the second half because he was afraid ET would not get to go home. (Kids take these things seriously.) had forgotten the Middle-school vulgarity, but the story is okay and the creature is still charming. The effects are dated now, though.
VHS quality is distinctly faded after 20 years. ( )
