Five years after she graduated from high school, teacher, catechist, and sought-after speaker Katie Prejean McGrady returned to her alma mater in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to teach freshman theology in room 24. Katie Prejean's "Room 24: Adventures of a New Evangelist" chronicles the lessons she learned during her first few years as a high school theology teacher.

Prejean is candid in her reflections on her successes and failures, especially as she learns how to teach content while simultaneously evangelizing young people who may be unsure of or actively resistant to Christian teaching. Her major takeaways -- being authentic, radiating joy, focusing on Jesus Christ, etc. -- mirror well the advice given by recent popes in their teaching on evangelization.

"Room 24" would be a great gift for new Catholic school teachers or catechists in need of sound advice and wisdom on effective faith formation. Experienced catechists will also find helpful reflections and insights for their ministries.
