Sheriff and werewolf Hank Marrow agrees to an arranged marriage to the daughter of a werewolf from a powerful pack, Ivy. Little does he know that Ivy's father is abusive and controls her entire family and Ivy has been doing everything she can to escape and protect her other family members from him. Loved all the twists and turns in this one even more than the first book in the series. Was such a sucker for Hank and Ivy's happy ending. And Charlie's too. Very enjoyable read. ( ) Hank, the eldest son of the Georgia wolf pack's alpha, agrees to an arranged marriage with the daughter of the alpha of the Tennessee pack to pay off a debt. He does not expect much in the match especially since he meets her in his jail locked in a cell. Ivy, the daughter, is attracted but is keeping secrets so that Hank cannot say no to the marriage. Will they work it out? Will they marry? What are Ivy's secrets? I loved this book. Hank is so reliable and steady and honest. He is a good guy and Ivy has had so few of them in her life. Ivy, to her good, is not happy about the secrets but she will do what she must to protect her son. When Hank finds out about Ivy's son and reads between the lines of what Ivy's childhood was like, he is determined to protect them both. I liked how far he is willing to go for the two of them. I also loved the bond between the three of them as the wedding grows closer. This is a perfect read. I felt so good after closing the covers. I had a hard time walking away from this book. I look forward to the rest of the series. I don’t know if reading the first book helped but with this one I was immediately drawn back into the Nocturne Falls world and glad to be there. I really like the flow of these books – yes they are predictable but the characters are lovable and consistent. Something that as a reader is very comforting. With this book, the characters of Hank and Ivy had me more invested in their story than with Hugh and Delaney from the first book. The story flowed very easily and the supporting characters felt the same as in the other Nocturne Falls books. It was easy to find myself in their world. As with the first book in the series I felt this one started to drag at the end and I wonder if this is going to continue to be a trend in the series. It is like the author is working very hard to make each book a certain length that causes her to throw in some random angst. B.J. Harrison will now officially be the voice of Nocturne Falls for me. He does such an excellent job with the characters and their emotions that I won’t be able to accept anyone else as a narrator for this series. no reviews | add a review

HTML: Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year. The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better. Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all. Getting arrested wasn't on werewolf Ivy Kincaid's agenda when she arrived in Nocturne Falls, but her life rarely goes according to plan. The upside of spending the night in the local lock-up is finding a hotel room is no longer a worry...but the downside is the man she's come to marry will get his first impression of her behind bars. Not exactly the way Ivy was hoping to meet her pack's sworn enemy...aka her fiancé. Sheriff (and werewolf) Hank Merrow is the alpha's heir. Everything he's ever done, from becoming an Army Ranger to serving in law enforcement, has been in preparation for the day he'll take over. Getting married to cement a shaky truce is no different. Hank will do his duty, even if it means shackling himself to a woman he has no intention of liking, let alone loving. But Ivy is nothing like Hank expected. As feisty as she is beautiful, she's as determined as he is to make a go of marriage for the sake of peace between their packs. The trouble is, Ivy has secrets that could destroy everything Hank holds dear...including his newfound love for her. No library descriptions found. |
