... deal: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series is by far, his best, but his Dirk Gently series is great as well. Read The Salmon of Doubt to get a great overview of this amazing man.

Also reading Atonement by Ian McEwan because it is on the 1001 list, and also The Salmon of Doubt by Douglas Adams because he is quite awesome. ... multiple-genre don't put all your copies of one book in a genre if it could equally fit in another. While it's true that Douglas Adams stated in interviews that The Salmon of Doubt was changing from a Dirk Gently novel into a Hitchhiker's novel, the 11 chapters published in the unfinished book are clearly part of a Dirk Gently novel. Dirk is the protagonist, there ... ... but after 10 minutes, I can't remember a thing he wrote -- only the way he made me laugh.
