... deal: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series is by far, his best, but his Dirk Gently series is great as well. Read The Salmon of Doubt to get a great overview of this amazing man.

It includes eleven chapters of a Dirk Gentley novel, several interviews, a rather rude (and ... I just got a copy of Salmon of Doubt the other day - and I am both happy (to have got it) and sad, as it is the last book to get.

While it's true that Douglas Adams stated in interviews that The Salmon of Doubt was changing from a Dirk Gently novel into a Hitchhiker's novel, the 11 chapters published in the unfinished book are clearly part of a Dirk Gently novel. Dirk is the protagonist, there ... ... but after 10 minutes, I can't remember a thing he wrote -- only the way he made me laugh.
