"Puddle" was precious! It begins on a rainy day with a little boy bored and upset with nothing to do. The mother sits down to draw and he refuses, however after the boy sees what the mom is drawing, he wants a say and a part of it too. Before you know it, they've made up an entire story and illustration about being outside on a rainy day. The illustrations are simple, hand drawn and compliment the book so well. One of my favorite things about this book is that there were no quotation marks or "mama said" anywhere in the text. They simply made the words black when the little boy was talking and red for when the mother was speaking. Those little things make such a difference to a reader. The book ended with them ACTUALLY going outside to jump in real puddles instead of drawn ones. Cute and imaginative. ( )

This book is about a little boy who is very upset that it is raining outside, and he can’t play on the playground, play soccer, or ride his bike. His mom tells him to come draw with him, but he doesn’t want too. He eventually helps his mom with the drawing and has a fun time with her. They then decide to go outside and play in the puddles. I loved the illustration in this book. It was beautiful! ( )

This is a book about a little boy who is angry that it is raining. Him and his mother must use their imagination to find something fun to do. There is simple language and engaging illustrations that really show how the son is feeling about this weather. ( )
