I bought this small phrasebook for a project meeting in the Czech Republic. It is not comprehensive, but it was enough to help me manage in areas where the locals didn't speak English or German.

I hadn't planned to use the Slovak section, but on the way back through Heathrow, I encountered an elderly Slovak lady whose only English word was "Detroit". (Um...wait.. that's actually French. Anyway, she was aparently trying to get to Detroit.) With this book, and my limited pantomime skills, I was able to help her to reset her clock for GMT, find the display screens where flight numbers are posted shortly before boarding, and understand the notations on her boarding pass for boarding time and departure time.
