46 months - Cute story and O enjoys searching for Simon's missing items. Nicely illustrated. ( )

I just noticed how oddly similar this book is to [b:Abroad |20656954|Abroad 1882 |Thomas Crane|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1391101599s/20656954.jpg|20126803] (published in 1882), wonder if the author got inspiration from it. It sure has an old feel to it. We love those Adèle and Simon books by the way ... ( )

Just love anything that Barbara McClintock does - her artwork is exquisite. This book makes for a delightful read to share with children one-on-one or in small groups, because as Simon and Adele walk through 1900-era Paris, Simon keeps losing his things. Children will love to search for his missing accessories. My only quibble (and the only thing keeping this from being 5 stars) is that I wish McClintock incorporated some simple French phrases in her book - Merci, Bonjour, Au Revoir. Would have been a perfect touch to this nearly perfect book. ( )

Adele and Simon come from France to visit their Aunt in New York. She takes them on a trip across the United States and they visit Boston, Chicago, North Dakota, The Northwest, San Francisco, New Mexico, Texas, New Orleans, St. Louis, and D.C. Simon looses something every where they go, but all of this belongings are waiting for him when they get back.

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0374380449, Hardcover)

When Simon’s older sister, Adèle, picks him up from school, he has his hat and gloves and scarf and sweater, his coat and knapsack and books and crayons, and a drawing of a cat he made that morning. Adèle makes Simon promise to try not to lose anything. But as they make their way home, distractions cause Simon to leave something behind at every stop. What will they tell their mother?
Detailed pen-and-ink drawings – filled with soft watercolors – make a game of this unforgettable tour through the streets and scenes of early-twentieth-century Paris. Illustrated endpapers extend the fun by replicating a 1907 Baedeker map of Paris.
Adèle & Simon is a 2006 New York Times Book Review Best Illustrated Book of the Year and a 2007 Bank Street - Best Children's Book of the Year.
