Private detective tries to help out an old friend and ends up wondering if he has committed a murder while under hypnosis. An excellent page turner with hardly a wasted word. This isn't - or maybe it is - one of the Shell Scott series. In an interview posted at http://user.dtcc.edu/~dean/interview.html, Prather explains how he changed Shell Scott to Mark Logan for this book when it was published by another company, but changed it back after Fawcett agreed to publish it. However, he says that all his copies say "Mark Logan", and so does mine. ( )

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0759205744, Paperback)

When business owner and personal friend Jay Weather is murdereed, all evidence points to P.I. Mark Logan as the killer. Logan knows he didn't do it...or does he? It is his .357 found next to the body, and he can't remember where he was, or what he did the night of the murder. There is one thing Logan does know. Jay came to see him the day before he dies, and his friend was clearly scared and confused. So scared, Jay had signed over his business to Logan for safe-keeping,and so confused, he was seeing imaginary green parrots, and having strange compusions to do things completely out of character...like changing his will. Suddenly Logan starts finding more frequent gaps in his memory, and uncharateristic overpowering urges that he finds impossible to ignore. But that's not all, now the police have discovered another corpse. Read by Heath Kizzier. 5 CD's 5.5 Hrs.
