... (clothing as well as gadgets) and think it's lots of fun, but I haven't done a lot of reading in the genre. I did like Larklight, though I haven't read the sequels yet. I also think the Chrestomanci books, particularly Charmed Life, have a steampunk feel to them.

Resurrected. A couple of steampunk series' that haven't been brought up here: - Larklight by Philip Reeve - A junior steampunk series that captures a wonderfully whimsical Victorian sentiment. Rolllicking good fun! - Mortal Engines also by Philip Reeve - Young Adult series based ...

#225 True, it is mainly adventure and excitement at the beginning. I haven't read Larklight but have heard good things about it. So with any luck he will be hungry for more and move onto Mortal Engines again. Personally I don't think Fever Crumb is worth buying in hardback, no. It's just not ...

... is all swashbuckling adventure and bloodthirsty revenge, which I thought would be right up his street. We've been reading Larklight together though, which he's been enjoying, so I'm hoping I can persuade him to give Philip Reeve another chance. I may wait for Fever Crumb in pb if it's not ...

I haven't read Stardust, But I have read Larklight.

What did you think of Larklight? I have seen it and thought it looked interesting.

I just picked up Larklight and its sequel Starcross by Philip Reeve...I've heard good things so I'm excited to start them!

I'm glad I found this thread! I've already added Daisy Kutter to my TBR list. I really enjoyed Larklight when I read it and the sequel. The Mysterious Island is on my 'loser-books' list. I won't tell you why, but after you get started, you'll see what I mean, even if you don't agree. I ...

47 - You've read Larklight and Mortal Engines, right? And you must see The Mysterious Explorations of Jasper Morello (youtube link).

Philip Reeve writes some good steampunk, including Mortal Engines for adults and the Larklight trilogy for kids.

... Reeve is one of my absolute favourite writers of all time, but I wouldn't classify his work as sci-fi, unless you mean the Larklight series, which I haven't read yet. If we're reccomending anything at all I have to include The Golden Globe by John Varley. An awesome, light-hearted romp ...

... you'd enjoy. CURRENTLY READING The Good Thief by Hannah Tinti – really good so far ON MY MUST READS LIST Larklight by Philip Reeve – sci-fi Tunnels by Roderick Gordon – sci-fi Spiggot's Quest by Garry Douglas Kilworth - fantasy Among the Hidden by Margaret P ...

By that definition, I would guess that Larklight would count as steampunk. I really enjoyed it and read the second one, although I can't remember the name. Fun children's series.

I reread Larklight yesterday. Such a fun book.

I passed by the Uni bookstore on the way to find some lunch. Oops! Mothstorm, the latest Larklight book by Philip Reeve is out. How could I resist!

... your priorities straight. #103—I haven't heard of that before, but I'll possibly add it to my list. #107—Yeah, Larklight was just meh for me too. It was ok, but I have no intention of reading the next book. I now officially call this thread closed. I don't have that authority, ...

#91 Espy, did you like Larklight? I read that a while ago, but I don't think I was crazy about it. Kind of a take it or leave it. I remember considering not finishing it. I'm about to reread Eclipse real fast (theoretically) and then get to Breaking Dawn (though probably not until Septem ...

I finished Larklight, so now it's on to Pagan's Crusade. #90 have fun with your AP Stylebook. I had many eventful evenings of flipping through it while working on copyediting my school paper.

... good again with the penultimate book and I want to see how MacHale wraps everything up. Right now I am in the middle of Larklight and I've sort of stalled out wile reading it. I like it for the most part, but I think that the Victorian nature of the steampunk is bugging me a little.

Out of the books available at the library today, he picked Larklight and Starcross, Lost in Cyberspace, and a few manga titles. He also joined the summer readers program without me asking him to. Yay!

Larklight by Philip Reeve is a fun read for that age. Also The True Meaning of Smekday had hilarious aliens. And how about Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians?

#89 -- Oh, Larklight was fun! #94 -- I introduced my brother to Mistborn and his reaction was the same as yours. I'm rereading Terrier by Tamora Pierce, as my teen book club selected it for next month's read.

I read So Much To Tell You yesterday, and Winter today. Also reading Larklight today.

Winter by John Marsden, and Larklight by Philip Reeve (author touchstones wokky). I'm on a John Marsden binge, I just recently rediscovered him.

Grammath - I recommend Larklight by Philip Reeve - maybe a bit 'young' for you, but it's well worth the effort.
