I found this a delightful book. It is full of stories that happened in the area where I grew up (near the base of Mt. Shasta), and where my great-grandparents pioneered. Also Oregon, where my family came from in the late 1800's. The humor reminds me of my grandpa for some reason. One must take into account that it was a different era to understand some of the attitudes and actions in this book towards animals and men. I'm very glad to add this to my collection. I have the first edition hardcover, but the picture for this edition was better. ( )
