This book really scared the crap out of me. I liked it. The end was a little pussified and seemed kind of like a cop out, but otherwise, I'd suggest it. ( )

I really enjoyed this book although it was'nt one of my normal reading choices. I found i could relate very well to the main character Alice. Id describe the book as a mild thriller. the only bad thing i thought was that the ending was wrapped up very quickly. ( )

Alice Loudon has a boyfriend, friends, and a nice, safe life, but she abandons them all for an affair with a seductive, obsessive stranger, the heroic mountaineer Adam Tallis.

The blurb says it's "compulsive, sexy, scary", but I'm afraid I found it annoying and tedious. ( )

This is a powerful thriller, a novel of psychosexual obsession that holds the reader in its grip from beginning to end. I had low expectations of the book, but must rank it as one of the best of its kind that I've read in years. Although termed a "page - turner" by other reviewers, the reader may find it too intense to read more than a few chapters at a single sitting. ( )

My favourite Nicci French book. Alice meets and falls in love with the mysterious Adam Tallis, but there is more to this man than meets the eye. Soon everything Alice knows and loves is threatened by her new lover, and as she attempts to find out more about his past, she uncovers some disturbing facts.

This book is truly deserving of the description 'page turner'. It held me in suspense to the end, and is one of the best in it's genre that I have ever read.

One word of warning - do not bother with the movie. It is virtually unrecognisable from the book, and is pretty dire. ( )
