"Hi New Baby!" by Robie Harris is a great book to share with students that have a sibling on the way or just born. It is hard to accept someone new into your life especially when they require so much attention. The little girl in the book is frustrated with the new baby cause she says the baby doesn't do anything and cry's really loud. When she has seen the baby for the first time she is ready to leave the hospital and have her daddy to herself. She is selfish because she is used to being the only child. She wants to be little again and she wants to be the only child. She compared herself to the baby the whole book making herself look more mature to feel better. Finally she was acknowledged by her dad for being a big sister and everything started to make sense. She felt accomplished when she put the baby to sleep. The new baby has won her over and now she is proud to be a big sister. ( )

This was a story about the planets and would do super well as an introductory book if you were to teach about planets to the class. ( )
