The Gambit with Perfection is Book 2 in the Phantom of the Earth series. In Book One the earth has been devastated by a virus and those who survived have turned to the underground for survival. The Barao Strike Team headed by Captain Brody has been given the task to find a cure but the powers that be have begun to lose patience and have issued a warning against them and in so doing send them on a mission to the Vigna system to retrieve an alien substance from the planet. Damy is Captain Brody’s eternal companion and the lead scientist in the Reassortment and Regenesis team where they are experimenting to revive a Neanderthal man. She is devastated at the news that Brody will be leaving especially now that she has learned she is with child. The resistance to the commonwealth has fallen apart as their leader has been captured and his son, Connor, is still on the run. After securing his location and surviving several close calls he is ready for war. This book was a much better read, more interesting and captivating. And as the title suggests it is all about perfection, if it’s not perfect it is an error and there is no room for failure. ( )
