This is a cute early chapter book in the "Puppy Pals" series. It is a series definitely geared to young girls. The main characters are Kat and her best friend Maya. They are puppy freaks, although neither of them has a dog of their own. They have been in the same class at school every year until this one. It is tough for Kat as she is quiet and shy and is being teased this year. When her Aunt Jenn opens a dog grooming salon that also boards animals, Kat and Maya offer to help out with a puppy named Bailey that is boarding for a few days. Are they responsible enough for this job? Will they make the right decisions?

There are some cute black and white illustrations in the book that add to the story. This is a series that little girls, especially those that love animals (dogs in particular) will enjoy. Short simple chapters will keep them interested. A good book for late primary, early junior classrooms as well as elementary school libraries.

I received a copy of this book in return for an honest and unbiased review. ( )
