A compilation of three "Modesty Blaise" stories from 1988-1989, these are marred only by Romero's artwork. Romero is more suited to glam-art. His action scenes are wooden, and all his men and women seem carved from the same ideal archtype. Also, the reproduction is a little small for his coarse inking, causing a slightly muddied effect. That said, Peter O'Donnell is up to his usual snuff here. Good stories, and the last one is of particular interest because it depicts for the first time I've seen in the strips two of my favorite characters from the novels, Stephen Collier and his wife Dinah. Not terribly fond of Romero's depiction of them, though. ( )
