Silampa, el periodista, introduce una de sus manos al bolsillo de la muñeca tamaño natural que habita su departamento y actúa como pieza crucial en su vida, y saca de él algunos papeles que ha ido guardando ahí a través del tiempo. Uno de ellos es una frase del escritor Luis Sepúlveda y reza: ""Perdí. Siempre perdí. No me irrita ni preocupa. Perder es una cuestión de método"".
Perder, siempre perder. Todos pierden en esta entramada y a ratos escabrosa intriga. Silampa, el periodista que busca desentrañar el asesinato de un cuerpo que ha aparecido empalado a orillas de un lago ubicado a poco más de una hora de Bogotá. Mónica, la mujer, la que copa las emociones del periodista. Los corruptos Esquilache, Barragán y Vargas Vicuña; el mafioso Heliodoro Tiflis y su amante Susan. Estupiñán, el incondicional ayudante de Silampa. Quica, la niña prostituta que sueña con ser cantante. El obeso policía cuya condena es su volumen graso y su ingenuidad. Todos y cada uno de los personajes que conforman esta novela están condenados a perder, una y otra vez. Y aún así, y quizás por eso, la novela agarra al lector casi con ferocidad. ( )
