A remarkable book - not merely an accurate and scholarly investigation into the use of fire in ancient and prehistoric times with diagrams of Danish archaeological excavations, it goes on to explain how to dig and prepare clay, construct pottery, and fire it in a primitive home-made kiln. We did this and invited some fellow homeschoolers. A truly memorable experience! ( )
