I started hopeful, but quickly became annoyed with Janet; she's a whiner, a complainer and honestly, if I wanted to spend my free time listening to this nonsense, I would have called my mother. Janet's in AA, divorced from an abusive husband, has internal conversations and 'memories' that don't fit her personality... and that's just the main character!
The writing is distant, and there's no spark or feeling of closeness even when Hayden first kisses Janet. It's like the story is being written in short hand, there's no intimacy here.
There's a huge disconnect between the main character herself, within her internal dialogue and who she appears to be with others, as well as her budding relationship with Hayden.
Sorry, this one's just not enjoyable for me at all. Aside from the cover photo, the price of the flaws is too high to spend my time finishing the book.
* I received an arc for an honest review
