I received a free copy from NetGalley for an honest review. CC is an heiress who desperately needs a captain to get her through the blockade to the states to help her family. She decides to employ Beau in her mission but doesn't realize that is intrigue, mystery, and a villain who wants revenge. The villain was so wonderfully created and made the last several chapters very exciting to read. It is a great romance book with a strong female character and tons of twists and turns. A great read. Intrepid, interesting and intriguing “CC” Collins was a whole lot more than she seemed to be at first glance and the layers of who she really was were peeled off one after another as the book progressed. Beau Tollier was strong, brave and true but perhaps changed from the man who left home 12 years before, especially after his last experience running the Union blockade. This story has romance, action, bad and good men, surprises, and a lot more. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author in the future. I do have to say that I wondered what the animals were doing in cages on the boat in that last action-packed scene and kept wondering if someone was going to be eaten by the lion…but…why not?

Thank you to NetGalley and Carina for the copy of this book to read and review. ( )
