>4 I did like Trilobite. I've become very fond of the little fellows. Here's my 4-star review:
Trilobites were a group of arthropods which lived during the pre-Cambrian to Permian time periods. IOW, from approximately 540-250 ma (million years ago). They ranged in size from a less than a ... For anyone who read (or was intrigued by my description of) Trilobite: Eyewitness to Evolution, check this out for a wonderful laugh: http://www.theonion.com/content/news/evolution_going_great_reports Oh Garp, thanks so much for that! I recently read Trilobite: Eyewitness to Evolution, which makes it even funnier. >55, 56
I'll try to be more careful (NOT!) :)
Sadly, Trilobite and Plows, Plagues and Petroleum were both new to me quite recently and are doing my own TBR pile no good. Fossils: The History of Life is going on my wishlist to read after I've got to Trilobite!. ... by Richard Fortey - 5 stars.
This is the second of Fortey's books I've read recently, and it's even better than Trilobite! I'm glad to hear Trilobite is so good: I have it in my TBR and I've been really looking forward to it. I'm in the middle of The Earth - an Intimate History by the same author, and really enjoying it. ... to measure the meridian of Paris. (Put some comments in the review space in my catalog.)
My next challenge book is Trilobite! by Fortey which I'm finding an easier (but not necessarily better) read. Reread: Freedom's Ransom by McCaffrey
Also, well into Trilobite! for the challenge. ... 1 on your list. I have that at home at the moment, hadn't decided whether to add it to 101010, but recently finished his Trilobite. He also just came out with a 4th edition of Fossils: The History of Life which I've requested at the library. Have you read anything else by him?
I read D ... ... I'm always on the lookout for a new suspense series and the LT predictor says I'll love it. We'll see if it's right!
Trilobite does sound interesting too. These threads are so dangerous to my TBR pile. Just requested Trilobite from the library as you made it sound very interesting and I need another science book for my 999! 6. Trilobite: Eyewitness to Evolution by Richard Fortey - 4 stars
I started this with no idea how interesting I'd find it, but it was recommended on one of my LT groups (probably History at 30,000 feet: The Big Picture). I could never be a scientist (I haven't the attention span), but I'v ... ... r)

I also own his Trilobite: Eyewitness to Evolution book but I haven't read it yet either. Richard Fortey is a very good science writer. I've also read his book Trilobite which is about his specialist area, a sort of marine hermit crab-like creature which died out something like 250m years ago. It sounds very dry (I read it because a house guest left it behind) but it was a great ... ... book on a fascinating piece of scientific history.
