On leave from the Confederate Army, Stg. George Genois is at his brother's bachelor party. He tells out that he will never marry. The next day a spell is cast and he falls in love with his friend's sister, Jewella. He is very reluctant but the spell is more powerful. When Jewella is arrested for treason and set to hang, George seeks out the help of "The Chicken Man" deep in the swamp.

He doesn't know "The Chicken Man" has other plans for Jewella's body. His wife gives George a fake spell. The night of the Creole Moon, when a special ceremony is to take place, George goes back to the swamp where a much more potent spell is placed on him. I loved the book up to this point, then it becomes confusing with a lot of questions unanswered. They may be answered in the sequel, I hope. I can't wait to find out what is going to happen to George, next. Can he get his revenge?

Thank you, S.T.Holmes and Word Slinger for giving me a free copy of this book to read and give my honest review. ( )
