“Lucky Me!” is the story of a woman leading an ordinary, happy life—until she is stopped in her tracks by a diagnosis of ovarian cancer. What I liked best about “Lucky Me!” was how well the writing captures the narrator’s personality; she doesn’t shy away from being complex. Sometimes she’s up, sometimes she’s down, and sometimes she can’t help being difficult, especially when she’s facing off against nurses. The author also nicely captures the emotion inherent in longing for your old life while being forced to accept your new one.
