This was another one of those good and easy non-fiction reads for me. I really enjoyed how this book still took you through a story within a day of the life of a squid. The sprinkling of little bits and pieces of information about them was perfect and it felt like you weren't learning at all; just reading a cool story. The illustrations definitely helped make the story more interesting being all dark and then bright with the pinks and reds when the squid was there.

This educational book offers great pictures and information. It shows what the squid does in the deep ocean, their size, what they eat, what to expect, and functions of their body. A fun, interesting, beautifully illustrated read. ( )

This is an interesting non-fiction book about the mysterious giant squid. I'm not sure what kids will think of this book, but based on how much my students have enjoyed The Blue Whale, by Jenni Desmond, I think the kids will probably enjoy this one as well. The illustrations are beautiful and mysterious. ( )

This book gives information about the Giant Squid, a creature that hides away and is rarely seen. The book talks about its thirty foot long tentacles, its large eye, and its saw like suckers that tear at their prey. One of the most powerful things about this book is its illustrations. They have a lot of detail and add to the dark ant mysterious nature of the Giant Squid. This is another way for children to gain knowledge in a more interesting way. Genre - Orbis Pictus List.
