This rhyming book tells the story of the narrator’s little sister and her adventures while hugging her way through the alphabet. Beginning with an ape and ending with a zebra, each animal uniquely responds to her friendliness while her brother captures the silly escapades on camera. The colorful sketched illustrations enhance the humorous tone with outrageous expressions and actions of both the sister and the object of her affection. This book would be a great choice for a preschool read-aloud. ( )

Very cute story about what the little sister ate, each animal starting with a different letter of the alphabet. I loved the illustrations and the rhyming text. ( )

This is a story about a young girl who decides to hug a different animal for every alphabet letter. This novel includes good illustrations as well as rhyming. This book can be used in the classroom as a read aloud when teaching the ABC's.

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0385736606, Paperback)

WILD ANIMALS DON’T SCARE Little Sister. And to show how much she likes them, she’s going to hug them all, from Ape to Zebra, whether they like it or not! A newt, an octopus, a porcupine . . . it’s a slimy, slippery, prickly situation. What will Little Sister hug next? And what kind of trouble will those hugs get her into?

With riotously revolting rhymes and hysterically funny art, kids will be laughing their way from A to Z . . . until all the animals are scared away and there’s only one person left to hug!
