chick book — 4 friends, babies, switching around — all find Happiness at End — True? No Way

Fifteen years after graduation, best friends Jay, Franny, Emerson, and Stevie meet at their college reunion. Life has taken each of them in different directions -- Jay is a married man with a baby on the way while Franny yearns for a child as she searches for love in all the wrong places. Divorced single mom Emerson is drawn to a man who challenges everything she's come to believe about finding a once-in-a-lifetime love. And Stevie's life has recently been rocked by a shocking revelation -- the answer to a family secret that will shatter everything she believes about herself.

Couldn't finish it. The author spends more time describing the characters by what they wear than in revealing a plot or moving the story forward (this one has a navel ring-she's wild! this one wears Prada--she's an aristocrat!). Too much telling not enough showing--I felt like I was being spoon-fed the characters' backgrounds, rather than letting them be revealed through their actions. ( )

Reminded me of a soap opera of the lives of four college friends and how they lead their separate lives, but come together to share strong bonds and relationships and find true love. (I wrote this before reading prior reviews. Ironic that they called it a soap opera too.) ( )

Soap Opera. It went in one eye & out the other. It is about a group of friends and their troubles. #1 & #2 (male & female) end up together; #3 stands up to her mother & marries a (superduper) Norwegian, #4 finds her father, proves he isn't a murderer, and is able to commit finally, to a superduper guy.

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0743483421, Paperback)

Fifteen years after their Princeton graduation, Jay, Franny, Emerson, and Stevie meet at a college reunion. Life has taken each of them in different directions -- Jay is a married man with a baby on the way, while Franny yearns for a child. Divorced single mom Emerson is drawn to a man who challenges her assumptions about finding a once-in-a-lifetime love. And Stevie has recently been rocked by a shocking revelation -- the answer to a long-kept family secret.

Now the bond between them takes a surprising twist, one that changes how each feels about family and friendship. One thing is certain: They will all find their heart's desires in the last place they imagine -- as they discover that family is less about blood ties than the warm embrace of ones who accept them as they are.
