Retiring to bed exactly as the clock strikes twelve - midnight being the proper bedtime for all witches - Winnie and her cat Wilbur are soon fast asleep. But when a strange noise in the garden awakens Wilbur, and he goes to investigate, a most unexpected guest finds his way into the house, causing chaos and destruction. Can Winnie, now roused herself, solve the problem by waving her wand? Will the baby dragon's mother arrive in time to prevent her offspring from burning the house down? It's another wacky adventure for witch and cat!

I enjoyed Winnie's Midnight Dragon - the third "Winnie the Witch" adventure I have read from Australian author Valerie Thomas and British illustrator Korky Paul - immensely. The story is a lot of fun, and the illustrations are humorous and appealing. I particularly liked the scene in which the baby dragon starts puffing butterflies! Like the other titles in the series, this would make the ideal gift for young readers who like a "gentler" witch tale. ( )

This is a fictional story. The illustrations are done in watercolors. The content of this story is about a witch whose house gets invaded by a baby dragon. The dragon chased the witch's cat all over, making a huge mess! The witch helps the baby dragon find its mother and all is well again. The reading level of this book is from second to fourth grade. Some curricular connections could be witches, dragons, fiction, and fantasy.

This is the cute story about Winnie the Witch and her black cat Wilbur. Just as they are settling in for the night, Wilbur hears a noise downsairs and finds out it is a baby dragon. Many funny things occur before Winnie and Wilbur find the dragon's mother.
