When Grace and Frankie are asked to meet by their husbands over dinner, the two of them think that what's about to happen is that they're going to announce that they're retiring from the legal practice the two of them have been successfully running for several years, not that they were going to announce that they wanted a divorce so that they could marry, each other.

A tour de force by all involved, the younger members of cast are overshadowed by the older members and they are so realistic and so clever, there are a few missteps and a few moments where the humour is a little forced but overall the story works well and engaged me. I binge watched the entire season over a Saturday and don't regret a moment. ( )
