This takes a wide prospective of the air assault on Britain. His references have shaped it somewhat and where fellow researchers have made assertions, he has taken issue. There is little appraisal of the decoys, nothing about the raid on Dublin. However why the attacks petered out, indeed why they began in the first place and the deficiency in the defences are well described.

I would have like to seen more put into tabular form allowing instead for more witness accounts.

Some rare B&W photos, references and abbreviations make this a serious work for all levels of interest.

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0785816011, Hardcover)

Defeated in the Battle of Britain, the Luftwaffe crossed the Channel with a new plan in mind. For eight months, they ceaselessly pounded industrial cities and seaports in order to smash England's war economy and break the spirit of its citizens--who had never before experienced such a massive attack. In this finely structured account, a World War Two historian assesses the tactics employed throughout the night blitz and graphically recalls its effects throughout the country, month by month.
