"Kara Zor-El escaped the destruction of her home planet Krypton, but on the way to Earth, her ship took a years-long detour. Taken in by the loving Danvers family upon her arrival, she's been taught to keep her incredible powers a secret. But with her cousin Superman winning hearts and saving lives all over the world, Kara can't keep the secret forever--not when her powers are the only thing that can save the people and the city she loves. Now she's taken to the skies above National City as Earth's newest superhero, but sinister forces, both human and alien, want to ground her for good. Who will take a stand to save her family, friends and her adopted planet from the forces of evil? This looks like a job for...Supergirl!"--… (more)

I didn't expect to like this as much as I did given the first issue felt rather weak. But instead of being episodic, each successive issue in this volume built on each other and the pay-off was totally worth it. Fans of the show would love this. Though I had an issue with how Kara was drawn by all the artists; she looked too waiflike for my tastes. Also, I do expect in graphic novels that are media-tie-ins to a TV show or movie that the characters would be recognizable as the actors, but they aren't here. It was a bit jarring, but I eventually rolled with it. ( )

Nicely captures the feel of the TV series, making it feel like another Supergirl adventure. Good use of small plots/adversaries that linked up into one larger arc. Could have spent more time at CatCo with Winn & James, and some of the artwork doesn't look much like the TV characters. ( )
