This was a level 2 non-fiction early reader with great real-life photography. I picked this one to read because I have several girls in my class that love to read about horses and I thought it might be a good addition to our class library. I have ridden horsed my whole life, and found this book to be very informational and accurate. It had little boxes on the pages with “safety points” and “new vocabulary” and the pages also had the sound breakdown of new words so readers could pronounce them correctly. I also liked that the book had an index and a table of contents, both of which are great things to teach students to use. If I were to purchase this book for my class, I would add it to my class library so students could read it on their own during free time.
