In this Brazilian legend, the daughter of the sea serpent goes onto land and falls in love with the ruler of a tribe. She marries him, but the stress of living without darkness is too much for her, and so she asks the head of the tribe to get darkness from her father. He sends three servants to do it, and they do, but they release the darkness rather than bringing it to her. Night is created, much to everyone's relief, and the servants are turned into monkeys. ( )
