Another fantastic volume. This one also deals more with political intrigue than most of the volumes in this series, but interspersed between them are very important scenes for the Band of the Hawks and for Guts. The catalyst in volume six is rearing it head as Guts makes a very decisive decision. It’s the fork in the road that furthers what will happen next. As always the artwork is breath taking. And the story keeps getting more and more complex. This is no work in the park. Miura expects the reader to follow along without needing to be led along. I think "showing" is harder to accomplish in graphic novels, but Miura does very well. It's up to the reader to catch the small shifts in expressions and interactions and to get what is happening. I love the interplay that is forming between all characters. This is another volume where you will want the ext volume on hand as you finish this one. It ends on a heart=wrenching scene. I'm glad I decided to reread this series. It deserves a reread every few years at least. ( )

But should the Hawks triumph again on the battlefield, the war with Chuder may end, but the secret war within Midland may begin as those who seek to rise within the court see the ambitious Griffith as an obstacle to obtaining power.
