A really wonderful book on the art of wrapping gifts using furoshiki - reusable square cloths that are designed specifically for this purpose. Furoshiki are usually made of silk, rayon, nylon or cotton - although the best are made of silk, naturally! - and come with beautiful, often seasonal designs. Traditionally, the recipient unwraps the gift on the spot and returns the furoshiki to the owner... but I think it's much more fun for the recipient to keep the furoshiki (as part of the gift) and to use it in turn. A Japanese tradition that is ecologically very relevant in these days of disposable gift-wrap and overflowing landfills! ( )no reviews | add a review
