Knitting Lace ISBN4-529-02531- 4. 1995. Pictured in the group's files. 68
pages.

This book has 13 small to large lace projects, which could be used as table
covers, doilies, dresser scarf, or maybe shawls. There are no indiviual
stitch patterns.

One square pattern looks like Niebling's Federdolde, but with different
corners. One apparently is also the same as [or similar] to Niebling's
Kirschbluten. A large portion of the book is given to pictures of thread,
needles, hooks, and accessories, followed by step-by-step instructions on
knitting doilies with many graphic depictions of how to increase and
decrease and YO. Lots of these instructions are also repeated with each
design.

The pictures are terrible. It is very hard to get an idea of what the
knitted item looks like from these photos. They are artfully shown with
dishes, glasses and silverware covering them. Or they are artfully draped so
that only one small portion actually shows how it looks. Some are artfully
shown knitted in white thread on a white background [with one exception,
which although on a dark background, is artfully wrinkled perhaps to
disguise the fact that it is supposed to be square but doesn't knit up that
way], crisscrossed with shadows. Another is artfully draped in front of an
open window so that light shows through the white making it very hard to
see.

A sepia-toned ink is used, meaning that even the charts are done in a medium
brown ink which is very hard to read. The charts are Huge and doubled over,
while attached to the book spine. I had to razor one of them out carefully
in order to copy it successfully.

Cost was around $40 plus sh from Moonrise in the USA. Lethe has checked with
them and was told this is no longer in stock and may be out of print.
