Uncle Henry’s Dinner Guests by Bénédicte Froissart has won the Governor General’s Award, the Mr. Christie’s Book Award and the UNICEF-Bologna Book Fair Prize.

In the book Uncle Henry comes for dinner. The story is told from the nephew’s point of view. The visit starts out like normal, and then crazy things start to happen. Cute and funny, the story shows what happens when the wild imaginings of a young child come to life. The illustrations help to further the story by adding details and interesting asides. This is an excellent choice for reading to early elementary readers. ( )
