( )Detective John Cardinal's wife's death is ruled a suicide but John doesn't believe it. Detective Lise DeLorme is investigating an unsavory sex crime brought to Algonquin Bay by the Toronto Sex Crimes Unit. I thoroughly enjoyed this mystery and my introduction to Blunt's character, John Cardinal. After reading and reviewing his newest novel, No such Creature, which is not a John Cardinal mystery, I am now reading his earlier books. This was a quick-reading book that kept my interest, and was a fairly light read. The subject matter was not light, but the depth of the story was. I'd recommend this book to anyone who just wants something easy and fast. Good characterization, plot and smooth writing made this a captivating detective story. I was disappointed with this book. It started well, but I really didn't enjoy the mystery and I don't think it worked particularly well. Despite that, I was impressed with Blunt's description of Cardinel's grief. I just think Blunt could have done more with the material. no reviews | add a review
