Well, obviously I have to say that I was wrong.. It's well written, way too different from the story that I used to know (even though this book is based on the original story of Cinderella).. What else should I say? I really liked it! ( ) Some elements were good, others not so much... The magical elements were intriguing, but never fully explored. The characters underwent changes, but they never really developed. And the rushed ending, complete with an instant-love connection? It just didn't work for me. Not the strongest of the "Once Upon A Time" series for sure. A fractured fairytale based around the classic story of Cinderella. Cinderellon's mother dies very soon after Cinderellon's birth and her father, grief stricken, flees the house, leaving the servants to raise the child. He soon returns with another child named Raoul who the servants are to raise as well. 16 years later, a woman shows up at the house with her two daughters saying she has married the master of the house, however she clearly does not know that Cinderellon is her new stepdaughter. This retelling does not have evil stepmothers, but neither does it have any traditional magic. When Cinderellon goes to the prince's ball with her stepfamily, she and Raoul get more than they bargained for and the puzzle pieces of their lives begin to fall into place. Well, I guess it depends on if you think a bit of melodrama & purple prose is a good thing, or not, in a 'tween romance. I enjoyed it. I certainly appreciated that the girl took care of things herself and didn't need to be rescued. I also liked that the stepmother & sisters weren't evil. If I were 12 I'd probably reread this a few times, as a sweet treat. no reviews | add a review
