I found this book during my London trip few years go on flea market at the Thames nd I'm really glad bout it.
Douglas Adams' trilogy in four parts is really worth reading as each of the four parts is brilliant. All those fancy stuff like Babel Fish or, my favourite, the depressed computer Marvin, it's just awesome!
I can just recommend this book to absolutly everyone from 10 to 100! But I'd recommend to read it in your native language, cause Adams' style isn't that easy.
So, all that's left to say: Have a great fun reading this marvelous book! ;)
The complet edition begins with The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, in which Arthur Dent is introduced to the galaxy at large when he is rescued by an alien friend seconds before Earth's destruction. Then in The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, Arthur and his new friends travel to the end of time and discover the true reason for Earth's existence. In Life, the Universe, and Everything, the gang goes on a mission to save the entire universe. So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish recounts how Arthur finds true love and "God's Final Message to His Creation." As the series progresses, its wackier elements diminish, but the satire of human life and foibles is ever present. ( )

It takes a bit to get into the flow of Adams's writing, but once you accept his universe, it's one of the funniest things around. ( )

This is a volume of four books. Its kinda big. I'll discuss each separately.

The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy

Ok, so this is a classic. I hadn't read it in years though, and it's still awesome. Loved it. Things to note that I hadn't thought of before -- "SubEtha" is talked about a lot, that probably explains "SubEtha Edit" which is an editor I have used in the past; the term "Googleplex" is used in the book, its also the name of the campus I work on; I love the idea of depressed computers, I should see if I can whip one up.

The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

Another classic. This book is probably a little better than The Hichhiker's Guide because it doesn't have to spend so much time explaining the background to the story. It is a very fast read, just like the other book, and I enjoyed it.

Life, the Universe and Everything

Another classic from the trilogy of four. I'd always known that Cricket was somehow evil.

So Long, and Thanks for all the Fish

This is the final book in the Hitchhiker's Guide trilogy, and to be honest I think this one is better than the third book. I enjoyed it, and I think the real strength of the book is that it doesn't try to hard to be a sequel.

Much funnier than the movie. Adams is a witty writer. It had me laughing out loud on my commute. ( )

First words
Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the Western Spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun.
Quotations
This planet has - or rather had - a problem, which was this: most of the people living on it were unhappy for pretty much of the time. Many solutions were suggested for this problem, but most of these were largely concerned with the movement of small green pieces of paper, which was odd because on the whole it wasn't the small green pieces of paper that were unhappy.
