I'm glad I went ahead and ordered this from Amazon in the UK; still, even though it has only been a few months since I read The Girl Who Played with Fire, it was sometimes hard to keep track of the various personalities and events. I'd recommend reading the two final books in quick succession. For Christmas:

Another 'can't put this book down' entry from Larsson Beginning over a year after the last events in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo we find Salander and Blomkvist separately pursuing some very dangerous ... I finished The girl who played with fire it was very good but I could totally predict the ending...I have to wait a little bit before my friend lends me the third and last part of the Millenium trilogy so I am moving onto a different book....

Started reading The Girl who Played with Fire around the midnight hour and couldn't force myself to put it down until I finished it which unfortunately happened to be just before 6am so now I'm ... ... sexual life of the main characters really got on my nerves too and it only gets worse in the second book of the trilogy, The Girl who Played with Fire. But I disliked The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo mainly because of the excessive sexual violence in it. It was way too graphic for my taste.

My favorite book this month was The Girl Who Played with Fire, but Moloka'i and The Gospel of Mary of Magdala were also very good. I still need to add some comments about these last two, which I'll try to do in the next couple of days.

Have you read the third? If so, does it keep up the quality and suspense? #26,snash, I got totally wound up in Stieg Larsson's novels too, and as purely exciting as The Girl Who Played With Fire turned out to be, I didn't think it nearly as good a story per se as The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Mysteries are not my thing but the first two books of Larsson's trilogy totally captivated me. As I started The Girl Who Played with Fire, I was skeptical. It seemed so like the previous that I feared that it was one of those situations where once was spectacular, but unrepeatable. Then ... ... (you gotta love birthday gift cards)

I started out a little disappointed with the book because the first half or so seemed to be about catching the characters up with what they'd been doing since the end of the first book. It was faster, there wasn't as much expository material, and it had an interesting twist: the protagonists never speak to one another in person.

Showed up from vine today :) The girl who played with fire is even better than the first part of the trilogy. The translation is better, and the story starts with a bang and continues like a rollercoaster. I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll limit myself to this: we learn a lot more about the female protagonist, and her ... ... forever? In other words: good SF. Not a classic, but good solid SF.
